BRIT Systems Utilizing Dell for High-Speed PACS

DALLAS, TX, and CHICAGO, IL, November 29, 2009 – Today at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), BRIT Systems announced a high speed configuration of their PACS servers and workstations. The server uses next-generation Internet technologies – such as clustering and cloud computing – and solid state drives to quickly store and forward studies to the high speed workstations, which are also configured with solid state drives. This solution demonstrating high-speed imaging capabilities will be on display in Dell's booth, 8944 in Hall B.

"BRIT is excited to work with Dell, one of the leading computer hardware companies, to create a new standard for high-speed PACS computing that is based on the latest Internet technologies," says Shelly Fisher, BRIT Systems. "The results are servers that can quickly add images into its database and forward them to workstations that can display medical images extremely rapidly."

BRIT re-architected its PACS server with GWT, Java databases and clustering tools on Dell's high speed computers with solid state drives to more efficiently work with high speed modalities, large image file sizes and multiple files.

"We are now able to demonstrate extremely fast storage of images on a PACS Server and the ability to quickly route them to a workstation or other location," explains Fisher. "We can also show that a radiologist can switch from one large study to another on their workstation in a blink of the eye."
