BRIT Systems Releases Enterprise-wide, Web-based
Radiology Workflow Solution

DALLAS, TX, November 24, 2009 – BRIT Systems announced today a complete, end-to-end radiology workflow solution, from computerized order entry and scheduling in RIS, to multi-modality image manipulation and review (either on-site or remote), to the electronic delivery of reports, including critical results and ER discordance. Roentgen Works, BRIT's family of browser-based radiology information technology (IT) and workflow tools, is the foundation for BRIT's enterprise, browser-based RIS/PACS solution.

BRIT Systems will showcase Roentgen Works enterprise RIS/PACS as a complete system and also as individual applications at booth 4014 during the annual Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting, Nov. 29 to Dec. 3, in Chicago.

Roentgen Works enterprise RIS/PACS includes several of BRIT's next-generation, browser-based applications and viewers, including: SpeechWorks integrated voice recognition and structured reporting; UrgentWorks critical results reporting and ER Discordance; the downloadable PACS View DICOM workstation; WebWorks web-browser-based viewing application; and Roentgen WorksFlow remote reading solution for any-sized radiology group.

"Roentgen Works enterprise RIS/PACS is the culmination of BRIT's unrelenting pursuit to provide a seamless workflow solution that shares patient data and clinical knowledge throughout the entire radiology reading and reporting process" says Shelly Fisher, president, BRIT Systems. "While BRIT's radiology IT solutions interface with other third-party applications via industry standards, users will gain greater workflow efficiencies and enhanced capabilities when implementing Roentgen Works enterprise."

For example, when SpeechWorks is used with the BRIT Vision multi-modality diagnostic workstation, the solution marries image viewing with voice recognition and reporting, so voice commands from SpeechWorks manipulate images in BRIT Vision; similarly, key images and measurements taken in BRIT Vision automatically show-up in the report.

Other products included with Roentgen Works enterprise RIS/PACS are BRIT's industry leading routing tools with the Roentgen Router, BRIT's Exam Loop and Dashboard for advanced workflow and system management tools, disaster recovery and business continuance with SmartSync for data security and redundancy and the Roentgen Burner with a new HL7 feature for including radiology reports with patient images.

In addition to providing a complete enterprise radiology solution, Roentgen Works enterprise RIS/PACS can also be used with other workstations, such as the OsiriX Imaging Software, an Open Source DICOM viewer for MacOS OS/10. BRIT is displaying Roentgen Works with the OsiriX workstation and MacSpeech Medical Voice Reporting application in its RSNA booth. Fisher says the voice recognition from the MacSpeech application is one of the best she's ever seen and it is achieved with minimal training.

"BRIT Systems' vision for next-generation radiology IT and workflow is more than providing browser-based applications," explains Fisher. "In addition to the movement toward enterprise-wide systems, we see an industry-wide need for components that truly interoperate and useful APIs that fill gaps in radiology workflow. Roentgen Works is designed as a complete enterprise solution that provides additional synergies when implemented as a whole, yet can be separated into individual components that work seamlessly with third-party systems and applications. We hope that existing OsiriX users will come to our booth at RSNA and see what we've done."
